Software Engineer
Summary
nVariate is seeking a Software Engineer to help build the next generation of digital engineering infrastructure.
You will develop software that connects design, simulation, manufacturing, inspection, and systems engineering data into a unified engineering framework. Using our proprietary technology, we enable automated traceability, verification and validation, digital twins, advanced analytics, and AI-driven engineering workflows.
As part of our team, you will work on challenging problems involving CAD geometry, systems engineering, simulation, manufacturing, inspection, data architectures, and engineering automation. Your work will help transform disconnected engineering data into actionable engineering knowledge across the product lifecycle.

Founded in Austin, Texas in 2016, nVariate develops technology that bridges the gap between systems engineering and engineering execution.
Our platform, Unirep, creates a normalized engineering representation that connects design, simulation, manufacturing, inspection, requirements, and standards data within a single framework. This allows organizations to establish engineering-level relationships across traditionally disconnected tools and workflows, creating a foundation for traceability, verification and validation, digital twins, analytics, and engineering automation.
At the core of our technology is a proprietary watertight spline-based representation that creates analysis-ready engineering geometry by construction. Unlike traditional workflows that depend on costly geometry repair, translation, and preprocessing, our approach preserves engineering intent while allowing information to move seamlessly across engineering domains.

Required Qualifications
Undergraduate or advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in related STEM field.
1-3+ years of professional software engineering experience (new grads with strong internship or project experience are encouraged to apply), including hands-on experience with C/C++ software development.
Experience designing, building, and testing software components or features, with an understanding of how to make sound technical trade-offs.
Familiarity with modern software engineering practices and tooling, including version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, distributive computation and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), automated testing, and agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban, Jira).
Ability to operate independently and tackle challenging programming and technology implementation problems, with support and guidance from senior engineers as needed.
Eagerness to learn, take feedback well, and grow as an engineer, including actively participating in code reviews and team discussions.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical ideas to teammates and cross-functional partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Python and other scripting languages, including experience using it for automation, tooling, data processing, or prototyping; familiarity with AI/ML concepts and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and experience applying or integrating AI-driven approaches (such as machine learning models or AI-assisted development tools) into engineering workflows is a plus.
Background in geometric modeling and/or a CAx field such as finite element analysis, additive manufacturing, or metrology.
Familiarity with some feature-based CAD API (Creo, NX, Catia, Solidworks).
Desire to learn and use spline-based geometry and higher mathematics.
